New Orleans Excursion: A Cultural Continuum from Antebellum to Modernist

  • Friday, October 21
  • 9:00 am – 6:30 pm
  • Location TBA
  • Ticketed Event: Yes

Discover New Orleans’ rich design heritage – from exquisite antebellum estates to significant Modernist properties – during The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s annual excursion.

Get exclusive access to exceptional sites and a specially curated luncheon at Commander’s Palace Restaurant. Destinations include: Lombard Plantation House, one of the country’s finest examples of West Indian-style Creole design (owner Fred Starr, author of Une Belle Maison, a colorful history of the property, will host us); the Garden District, a National Historic Landmark laid out in the 1830s; and two significant Modernist properties in the Uptown Historic District – a collaboration between Bob Royston and local architect John Lawrence that fuses traditional New Orleans with California Modernism, and the National Register-listed Curtis House.

The day will conclude with a reception where we will debut the What’s Out There® New Orleans published and online guides and honor a Stewardship Excellence Award winner.
